The Heart Beat of Discipleship.
Met with an International Executive of an International non-profit organization who once they were introduced to the Discipleship Training wanted to not only themselves be Discipled, but also begin Discipling others as they traveled around the world. It was explained to me that they had been using another discipleship resource, but the resource had been out of circulation for many years now, and as a result they had just stopped Discipling until now. I figured the two of us would go through the 16 month training before I would ever see what they were desiring to accomplish, International Disciple Making, until about five weeks in our meeting together that they wanted to have the training material available on USB format to give to those who would want to be Discipled by them, so that they could begin Discipling them via e-mail/face-time, just before their next International trip to Africa. With a quick reproduction of the Discipleship Materials in digital format, the individual headed to Africa for a three-week training conference. Upon their return, we reunited for an update and Discipleship meeting, and learned that they had established four new Discipleship relationships in Africa, one in the Middle East, and two in the U.S. It was difficult for me to wrap my mind around the idea, especially since the two of us had only completed two of the 58 Discipleship lessons ourselves, other than when they had returned from their next International trip, they were already on Lesson 8 with several of their Disciples, and now had their spouse interested in going through the Disciples Training and Making Disciples themselves, as they traveled together on these International trips. My initial take-a-ways from these extraordinary reports was that the Lord was answering our daily prayer for More Workers in the Harvest, in addition to the fact that this Discipleship Making work was more about the Lord building His church than anything I could ever do. The fact of the matter, this was one individual who had been doing ministry and Making Disciples for over three decades, and I was only seeing the fruit of someone else’s labor; Praise the Lord. It is with this one experience that I am even more empowered to pray to the Lord of the Harvest for More Workers in His Harvest, not mine. Lord bring your Best, and let your Light Shine Brightly in this Dark World, that none perish.
